Infusion Therapy
Mountain West Medical Center’s Infusion Therapy Services provides individualized patient treatment and care in a relaxing room to make the process as comfortable as possible.
Infusion rooms are designed with patient comfort in mind. Patients are provided with a comfortable recliner or bed depending upon their preference. Patients may enjoy television, use of our complimentary guest Wi-Fi, listen to music, read or take a nap.
Personal privacy along with the physical and emotional comfort of our patients are priorities for our infusion staff.
Outpatient infusion services include, but are not limited to:
- IV placement, PICC line and Portacath access, central line flushing and dressing changes
- Antibiotics
- Blood transfusions and other blood products
- Electrolyte replacement therapy
- Hydration therapy
- Injections such as Xolair, Neulasta, Neupogen
- Iron supplements
- IVIG
- Reclast
- Remicade
- Steroids
- Other treatments sometimes available per provider’s request
Infusion Specialists are Registered Nurses who:
- Review, clarify, and implement provider’s orders
- Provide dressing changes while evaluating the site
- Administer ordered treatments and medications
- IVI insertion and maintenance
- Monitor patients’ response to treatment
- Communicate lab results to provider, as needed
- Communicate to providers concerns related to patient condition
- Provide patient education related to disease process, health management and self-care
Those wanting to receive infusion services locally at Mountain West Medical Center should speak with their primary or specialty care provider.
Infusion services are available by appointment on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Night and weekend coverage may be available for special circumstances.
