Mountain West Medical Center Recognized by Vizient as 2024 Birnbaum
Quality Leadership Top Performer
Tooele, UT (September 19, 2024)—Mountain West Medical Center has been recognized as a top performer in the 2024 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Study by Vizient, Inc. Ranked 4th out of 364 community hospitals. Mountain West Medical Center earned this distinction for its excellence in delivering high-quality care, as evaluated by the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005.
The 2024 Vizient Quality and Accountability Study included 860 participating hospitals segmented into four cohorts. The study assesses hospitals’ performance across six domains of patient care: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness, and equity of care. Performance is measured using data from the Vizient Clinical Data Base, feedback from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, and data from the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network.
The study gives hospitals and health systems valuable insights into their performance compared to their peers. It also identifies the structures and processes contributing to high-quality, safe patient care across various settings. The recognition reflects performance over 12 months, from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
“Leading hospitals are leveraging data and analytics to provide superior clinical outcomes,” said David Levine, Chief Medical Officer for Vizient. “This award honors Mountain West Medical Center for demonstrating leadership focused on results and a culture of collaboration and adaptability necessary to succeed. It is a pleasure to congratulate Mountain West Medical Center on their achievement and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.”
“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by Vizient as a top performer in the 2024 Birnbaum Quality Leadership Study,” said Philip Eaton, CEO of Mountain West Medical Center. “Being recognized as a top performer is a testament to the dedication of our entire team to provide our patients the highest quality care. We remain committed to focusing on being a local source of high-quality, patient-centered care.”
