Mountain West Medical Center Recognized by Vizient as 2024 Birnbaum
Quality Leadership Top Performer
Tooele, UT (September 19, 2025)– Mountain West Medical Center announces that it has been recognized as a top performer in the 2025 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Ranking by Vizient, Inc.
Vizient is the nation’s largest health care performance improvement company, helping hospitals and health systems—including over 95% of academic medical centers and more than half of U.S. hospitals—enhance quality and patient care through data-driven strategies.

This year, 1,220 participating hospitals were segmented into seven cohorts for the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study. The study measures performance in six domains of patient care quality: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness, and variation in care. It incorporates data from the Vizient Clinical Data Base and includes performance metrics from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey and the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network.
The Vizient Quality and Accountability Study helps participating hospitals and health systems evaluate their performance against peer institutions and identifies the structures and processes associated with high performance in quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activities. The recognition reflects work conducted during the period from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
